On the morning of March 14, Wang Yinglong, secretary of the Party Committee of the university (institute), presided over the 1st collective study session of the Party Committee's theoretical study centre group in 2022. The Party Committee team of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering participated in the meeting as a joint study unit, and the head of the Party Committee's theoretical study centre group secretary unit attended the study session.
At the meeting, Wang Yinglong introduced the important speech spirit made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during the 36th collective study of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, which emphasized the importance of deeply analyzing the situation and tasks facing the work of achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality and carbon neutrality, and solidly putting the decision and deployment of the Party Central Committee into practice. Xu Chongqing, Director of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, gave a presentation on the background and significance of the Double Carbon strategy, the current situation and challenges, as well as the work ideas and initiatives, and put forward suggestions for the university's participation in the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality strategy.
Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Liu Yongbo and Wu Yantao respectively talked about their feelings of learning in the light of the actual work. We all agreed that the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech spirit is lofty, ambitious, profound and systematic. It is necessary to deeply understand the spiritual essence and scientific connotation, make good use of the school (college) system, platform and discipline advantages, actively integrate into and support the national Double Carbon strategic overall situation, fully implement the new development concept, and unswervingly pursue the path of green and low-carbon development.
Wang Yinglong asked the school (college) to study and implement the speech spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping, raise the political stance, fully understand the significance of the Double Carbon work, accurately grasp the target requirements, basic principles and work paths to promote the double carbon work. With the greatness of the nation in mind, we should strengthen our mission to serve and support the national double carbon strategy.The first is to give full play to the advantages of scientific research, deeply analyze and judge the target situation and key tasks of the Double Carbon work, identify the entry point and focus based on the actual situation of the school (college), make good use of the special funds for science, education and production, and vigorously support the scientific research team to undertake or participate in the national and provincial major scientific and technological tasks in the Double Carbon field, strengthen basic frontier exploration and key technology research. Facing the strategic needs of the Double Carbon field, we should strengthen scientific and technological research and development in clean and renewable energy, industrial energy conservation and consumption reduction, seize the commanding heights of carbon peak and carbon neutralization technology, so as to provide scientific and technological support for promoting green and low-carbon technological innovation, green and low-carbon circular development and green economic and social transformation in our province.The second is to optimize the layout of disciplines and majors, further condense the development direction of disciplines, support the deep integration of emerging disciplines such as artificial intelligence with traditional disciplines, and promote the construction of “carbon neutrality” related interdisciplinary disciplines and majors.Third, we will improve the quality of talent training. Aiming at social needs, we will comprehensively strengthen the innovative training of talents in urgent need in related fields of Double Carbon. The pilot should set up corresponding professional courses and general courses to strengthen talent reserve in related fields. Fourth, we should continue to deepen cooperation between industry, universities and research institutes. We should step up efforts to jointly build technology research centers and industrial research institutes with universities, local governments, and enterprises. We should raise the technology transfer ability, continue to enable high-quality development, and make more contributions to accelerating the goal of Double Carbon and serving economic and social development.
