From May 20 to 22, Wu Yantao, the Party Secretary of the School , led a delegation to visit Hong Kong and Macao. During this period, Wu Yantao attended the opening ceremony of the 2025 Shandong Week in Hong Kong and Macao, as well as the Shandong-Hong Kong-Macao Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Conference, and other exchange activities. He also visited the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Macao University of Science and Technology. Wu Yantao, representing Shandong universities, delivered a speech. He stated that despite the distance between Shandong and Hong Kong-Macao, the people of Shandong and Hong Kong-Macao are closely connected. Shandong shares cultural ties with Hong Kong and Macao, has deep roots, and complements each others strengths, laying a solid foundation for cooperation and offering broad prospects for development. As a member of the Shandong-Hong Kong-Macao University and Research Institute Innovation Alliance, the university has engaged in practical cooperation with multiple Hong Kong and Macao universities in fields such as information technology, artificial intelligence, and biomedicine, achieving significant results. Moving forward, the university will leverage its integrated advantages in education, science and technology, and talent development, further deepen collaboration with Hong Kong and Macao universities in scientific research, talent cultivation, resource sharing, and outcome sharing, truly achieve innovation integration and mutual benefits, effectively transform the first productive force of science and technology into more practical productivity, and jointly write a new chapter of high-quality cooperation among Shandong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

During his visit to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Wu Yantao held discussions with Academician Chen Guohua, Director Yao Haimin, and other experts, and toured the universitys artificial intelligence robotics laboratory. Wu Yantao emphasized that Shandong shoulders the responsibility of leading the way and taking on major responsibilities, while Hong Kong has the unique advantage of being backed by the motherland and connected to the world. He expressed hope for mutual progress and achievement between the two universities, leveraging their respective strengths for common development.
