Professor Vasilakos Athanasios Was Invited to Visit and Exchange at Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences)
Recently, Professor Vasilakos Athanasios—Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Director of the European Innovation Alliance, and National Distinguished Talent—was invited to visit and exchange at Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences). Wu Yantao, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, and Liu Yu, Deputy Secretary, met with Professor Athanasios, and the two sides held in-depth discussions on further deepening cooperation in areas including technological innovation, international cooperation, and talent introduction and cultivation. Relevant responsible personnel from the International Cooperation Office and the School of Computing participated in the event.
Wu Yantao extended a warm welcome to Professor Athanasios’ visit and briefly reviewed the University’s development in recent years. He emphasized that as a key university in Shandong Province striving for “first-class” status, the University has consistently aligned with the major needs of national and regional development, advanced the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent in a coordinated manner, and achieved comprehensive breakthroughs in discipline development, scientific research innovation, platform construction, and international cooperation. He expressed the hope that taking this visit as a catalyst, the two sides will further promote collaborative research, joint platform development, talent co-cultivation, and achievement sharing; focus on international frontiers to foster major technological innovation outcomes; build a globally influential scientific and technological cooperation network; and particularly inject new impetus into the transformation, upgrading, and internationalization of the National Supercomputing Jinan Center, thereby contributing new vitality to global scientific and technological progressand digital economic development.
Professor Athanasios spoke highly of the University’s accomplishments in discipline construction, international cooperation, and other fields. He noted that he was delighted to visit the prestigious Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences), adding that this visit not only deepened mutual understanding between the two parties but also laid a solid foundation for practical cooperation ahead. He expressed anticipation for producing more high-level, original scientific research results with the University in fields such as high-performance computing and artificial intelligence, and jointly advancing global academic and scientific research progress.
During his visit, Professor Athanasios delivered a special academic lecture titled “Bridging the Gap: Architecting Autonomous AI for Real-World Network Security” to teachers and students of the University. The audience engaged in enthusiastic exchanges and discussions with Professor Athanasios on the cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence.
