Delegation Led by Academician Yuri Kurchin Visits Qilu University of Technology
On March 12, a delegation led by Academician Yuri Kurchin, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Director of its Far East Branch, visited Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences). Wu Yantao, Secretary of the University Party Committee, met with the delegation. The two sides held talks focusing on scientific and technological cooperation, student and faculty exchanges, talent cultivation, and joint platform construction. Liu Yu, Deputy Secretary of the UniversityParty Committee, presided over the event.
Wu Yantao extended a warm welcome to Academician Kurchin and his delegation. He noted that in recent years, the University has seized strategic opportunities for industry-education integration and science-education integration, and promoted the coordinated development of education, science and technology, and talent. Remarkable progress has been made in various undertakings with breakthroughs in multiple fields.
In terms of international scientific and technological cooperation, the University has adhered to an international and open development approach, and established long-term and stable cooperative relations with several Russian institutions, including the Institute of System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Siberian Branch, yielding fruitful results.
He emphasized that the Far East Branch boasts solid research foundations and great development potential in artificial intelligence, new materials, photonics and other fields. He looked forward to further deepening strategic cooperation and strengthening collaborative innovation between the two sides, accelerating joint platform building, collaborative research, resource sharing and talent exchange, so as to promote more high-level achievements to take root and bear fruit in both China and Russia.
In his address, Academician Kurchin thanked the University for the warm reception. He spoke highly of the remarkable achievements made by the University in scientific research innovation and international cooperation. He expressed the hope that the two sides would take this visit as an opportunity to leverage their respective strengths and achieve substantive cooperation in areas of common interest such as laser physics, optoelectronic technology and artificial intelligence.
Wu Yantao and Academician Kurchin signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two institutions, marking that bilateral cooperation has officially entered a new stage of institutionalization and substantiation, laying a solid foundation for in-depth cooperation in the future.
