Wu Yantao Leads a Delegation to Hungary for AcademicExchange and Visit
At the invitation of Professor Ferenc Krausz, an external expert of the university , Director of the Hungarian Center for Molecular Fingerprinting, and winner of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics, Wu Yantao, Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, led a delegation to Hungary for an academic exchange visit from March 30 to April 2, 2026. The visit aims to further deepen the collaborative research between the university and top Hungarian scientific research institutions in frontier disciplinary fields, accelerate the physical operation of the Shandong Provincial International Top Scientist Studio (Krausz Attosecond Laser Studio), and expand channels for international scientific and technological cooperation as well as talent introduction and cultivation.





In Budapest, Wu Yantao attended a series of events marking the commencement of the Hungarian Frontier Fund Science City, an initiative proposed by Professor Ferenc Krausz. In his address at the event, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán welcomed the delegation led by Wu Yantao and expressed his approval and support for the cooperation between Professor Ferenc Krausz and China. In his speech, Professor Ferenc Krausz extended his gratitude to the delegation for their visit and encouraged young researchers from both China and Hungary to actively engage in cutting-edge scientific research, so that science and technology can better benefit people around the world.



In Szeged, the delegation visited the Extreme Light Infrastructure Attosecond Light Pulse Source (ELI-ALPS), a world-leading attosecond science research center, and conducted an on-site inspection of the laboratory of the Hungarian Center for Molecular Fingerprinting. Professor Ferenc Krausz gave the delegation a detailed introduction to the laboratory's operation and representative achievements. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on comprehensive cooperation and reached a consensus on promoting high-end talent training, academic exchanges between teachers and students, joint scientific and technological research, and empowering industrial development.


At Obuda University, Vice Rector Habil·Viktória SUGÁR received Wu Yantao and his delegation. The two sides held in-depth discussions on scientific and technological cooperation, joint school-running and other aspects and reached a cooperation intention. Wu Yantao also visited Professor Attila, a national high-end foreign expert who has long cooperated with the university, affirmed the achievements of more than ten years of cooperation between the two sides in the field of zebrafish drug screening technology, and hoped that the two sides would continue to carry out joint research and collaborative innovation on key core technologies of neurodegenerative diseases.

During the visit, Wu Yantao attended a dialogue event between Nobel laureates and young students, where he had in-depth exchanges with Professor Ferenc Krausz and Professor Randy Schekman, winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. He also paid a special visit to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Hungary.
Going forward, the university will rely on the Shandong Provincial International Top Scientist Studio, seize the cooperation opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative, and continuously deepen joint scientific and technological cooperation and talent cultivation with universities and research institutions in Central and Eastern European countries.
